Dead Presidents 3

With the official copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail finally being released to the world, Jay Z has now decided to hit up twitter and talk to his fans – something he has never done before on the social media site. He has answered questions of all subjects and has tweeters going nuts for an answer from the GOAT. One question in particular though was about Dead Presidents 3, a follow up the one of Jay Z’s most popular songs. He told them to ask Young Guru about the track. Consequentially Young Guru released the official version of the track, which is straight fire. Check it out below!

Young Stacks LGi: Encouragement

Seems like the North Carolina hip-hop scene is on the come up nowadays. With J. Cole’s latest album, Born Sinner, selling close to 300,000 copies in its first release week, North Carolina hip-hop heads got a lot to be proud of. With that being said you now have up and comers with a new sense of determination to break out like Cole has.

One of those rising stars is the Greensboro, North Carolina native – Young Stacks LGi. The 25-year-old emcee has been on the come up in his city for a couple years, and now he’s got a new mixtape to solidify a spot as a promising artist.

Encouragement is an ambitious ten-song mixtape, consisting of a variety of different styles that are selling right now. You can tell right away Young Stacks is heavily influenced by a number of artists that are hot at the moment – such as A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Llamar and Drake. The only problem with this is that there is a lack of musical consistency from track to track. But besides that Young Stacks does a good job with all these different sounds and shows that he can be a versatile artist, which is definitely a plus for him going forward.

Lyrics wise, the dude is pretty nice. But what really works for me is his flow on all of his songs. He sounds very comfortable and confident on every track on this project which is laced with some nice production. Overall this is a solid mixtape and worth a listen.

Some stand-out tracks for me are Lost, What If, Drop, and Can’t Stop Me.

You can stream Encouragement before its realease on September 17.

Drake’s first signee to his label OVO Sound, PARTYNEXTDOOR, drops a mixtape. Its got ten songs self-produced and written by the Canadian artist. This is the first time I’ve heard of this guy, but the mixtape is very impressive. Give it a listen below.
